Adya Daruka is a freshman at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign who aims to study computational algorithms and methods for application in the medical industry. Avighna Daruka is a junior at the Doon School Dehradun who helped begin this venture, inspired by his sister's past experiences with these diseases.
When Adya was 12 years old, she was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia (ALL). For 1 year she needed blood donations almost every week. In this grave situation, the local blood bank was her crutch, coupled with the initiative and support of multiple friends and family. It revealed the power of donating blood to people's lives.
This experience instilled a strong inclination to give back to the community that was our lifeline during this challenging period and to support people in similar situations.

We know that to have an actual impact on not only our local community but rather on India and the world at large, we need to have large geographical coverage.
Thus our diverse team, coming from every corner of India: East, West, North and South, driven by the same mission and goal to change perceptions about blood donation and increase awareness about its myths. India is a nation that is quite expansive in terms of its population, and thus even with only 5-6 cities, the amount of people we can effect is tremendous.
